Hector Berrios is a Professional Pitching Coach, in the Philadelphia Phillies Organization.  In 2017-18,  A2i partnered with Hector Berrios.  We brought Hector's philosophy and techniques into our academy and applied it with our strength training for a few players. The results were astounding, and these players are experiencing great success.  Hector influences a lot of young aspiring athletes and has watched many of his students have MLB debut's over the past 2 seasons.

An All-Conference outfielder at Connors State College, Berrios spent eight  years in the professional ranks as a pitcher.. The San Francisco Giants took him in the 9th round of the January 1983 draft. Hector did not sign with them. He signed as an un-drafted free agent with the Kansas City Royals the next year. In 1984, he was 1-2 with a 2.53 ERA for the Eugene Emeralds despite 34 walks in 57 innings, thanks to 70 strikeouts. He split 1985 between Eugene (6-4, 5.33) and the Fort Myers Royals (1-1, 6.23). Let go by Kansas City, his next stop was with the Detroit Tigers organization.

In 1987, Berrios went 7-7 with seven saves and a 2.79 ERA for the Fayetteville Generals. He fanned 93 in 87 innings. His 45 appearances led the team's staff. The next season, the Santurce native was 3-0 with a save and a 3.55 ERA for the Glens Falls Tigers. During 1989, Hector recovering from elbow surgery rehabilitated back in Fayetteville, where he went 4-2 with a 4.88 ERA. He wrapped up his four-year stint in the Tigers chain with the 1990 Lakeland Tigers, going 2-2 with a 1.80 ERA in 21 outings.

The veteran minor leaguer signed on with the California Angels chain for 1991. He split time between the Palm Springs Angels (0-2, 4.94, 29 K in 23 2/3 IP), Midland Angels (2-1, 2 Sv, 2.87, 17 K in 16 IP) and the Edmonton Trappers (3-1, 3.86 in 16 1/3 IP), finally getting to AAA.

Hector wound up his playing career in 1992, spending a full year in AAA between the Chicago Cubs' Iowa Cubs (1-1, 8.78) and Los Angeles Dodgers' Albuquerque Dukes (1-2, 4.38). Overall, he had gone 31-25 with a 3.90 ERA and 11 saves in 236 minor league outings. He pitched in Big League camp for the Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Dodgers in 1988 and in 1992. Played winter baseball for the Santurce Crabbers and the San Juan Metros. Was Co-Mvp along with Hector Villanueva winning a championship with San Juan in 1990. Also played in two Caribbean championships in 1990 with San Juan and part of the champions Mayaguez Indios in 1992. 

His playing career over, he coached in the Detroit Tigers organization in 1997, Toronto Blue Jays chain from 1998-2002, spending time with the Hagerstown Sun sand Charleston Alley Cats. He was pitching coach of the 2003-2004 and 2006-2008 Brooklyn Cyclones. In 2009, he was pitching coach for the Binghamton Mets, then moved to the GCL Mets in the same role in 2010. Moving to the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, Berrios was a coach for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in 2011, the Great Lakes Loons in 2012, Chattanooga Lookouts in 2013 and the AZL rookie league Dodgers in 2014. He is currently in the Philadelphia Phillies' chain as pitching coach of the Williamsport Crosscutters in 2016 and 2017. Was part of the spring training staffs of the Ny Mets in 2009 and the LA Dodgers in 2013. 

He has traveled all over the world as a coach or an ambassador for MLB, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Austria and Taiwan to teach coaches and players.
